They are brighter and take up less energy and you only need a few to get the full effect, it is a win win. Gives you a chance to decorate the bulbs that aren't - get creative, mine doesn't look tacky at all and I'm saving myself from the horror of seeing me in full light, and I'm saving energy, and it looks cool!
