I've certainly seen and heard about many renovation disasters, however I'm normally fortunate to see more successes. I work at a portable storage facility and we work closely with contractors whose client choose to move belongings into a portable storage containers while floors are being refinished or serious repairs are made. While it may be luck, I think planning and foresight like that makes any significant project much more likely to succeed.

A good point made about the litany of poorly described projects on the Internet. It's critical to find out more about a potential project before heading off to the home and garden center for supplies. Rule of thumb--if there's no contact for more info on the project, BEWARE!
