A vanity can look very different depending on the space, your taste, and the uses you want it to perform. Some vanities can simply be a sink and a mirror combination. Taking a vintage piece of furniture and refinishing is a great way to make your vanity a true one of a kind piece. You can hire a contractor to refinish the piece of furniture for you, or, it may simply be easier to go and find a proper piece of furniture at a home improvement store.

You'll be able to find lots of great pieces of furniture and vessel sinks to choose from online and in stores.

Pedestal Sinks and Mirrors

Pedestal sinks are classic, and if you have a clawfoot tub it's a flawless combination. You'll want to add a mirror above the sink to make it a true vanity-style area.

One thing to consider if you want to install a pedestal sink is storage. With other vanity option there are usually more shelves and cupboards involved underneath. With a pedestal sink, the name says it all, all you have is the pedestal. You will want to incorporate other areas in your bathroom for storage and surface space. Consider adding a small unit with shelving above the toilet, next to the sink, or add a medicine chest with mirror above the sink.

Double Vanities

If you hate competing with your spouse for the sink when you're getting ready in the morning, or if you just want to make your master bathroom more appealing to potential buyers, having a double vanity is the solution.
