I hadn't heard of thermofoil kitchen cabinets until recently. I know it's measured in the linear foot. Are there standardized grades of kitchen cabinet veneer and laminates? I'm looking for the middle range for each option for starters. Are they a good choice here in Milwaukee?

Emily, thermofoil kitchen cabinets and those made from other laminates are not made with a real wood veneer, but rather are constructed with a plastic or vinyl veneer which is made to mimic the look of wood or a solid color selection. Thermofoil is a durable material and is used to make many styles of cabinets and cabinet doors. It is a fine choice for an economical kitchen cabinet, and most home improvement warehouses stock several sizes of thermofoil wall and base cabinets. In general, you can expect to pay $35-$50 per lineal foot of cabinetry. Kitchen cabinets made more durable high pressure laminates are available, but these often cost more than cabinets made with standard thermofoil.
You may want to visit some cabinet showrooms and home supply warehouses in the Milwaukee area so that you can see the various styles of available cabinetry. Oftentimes, you can find a modestly priced set of thermofoil kitchen cabinets which are in stock and may be just what you are looking for. Good luck!
