How do I determine the size of ridge and rafters I need to build a gable roof on a 16x24 foot, small cottage?
Extending a wall and got up into my attic to make sure I have a rafter to nail to and the rafter is 4 inches over from where I want to extend my new wall. Not sure what the existing wall header is nailed to. Should i just toenail some 2X4 up there to nail the top of my frame to?
This spring and summer I'm finally converting the attic and putting in new kitchen cabinets. The big project is the dormer. From what I've gathered online, the framing and rafters are covered the same way you'd do your roof, with plywood, felt, shingles, and flashing. How do you dry-in the room, insulate it, and still maintain adequate ventilation?
