I just purchased a home in a cold climate area. In the attic, some portions of the roof have insulation, some of it is missing. I want to replace the missing insulation between the rafters. The existing insulation is foil-backed, not kraft-backed. All kraft-backed insulation states that it must be covered. I am assuming that is why they used foil-backed. I have not been able to find foil-backed insulation and I am not going to sheetrock the roof. What do I use?
Here in Reno, Nevada, we get under 7" of rain per year. Can we collect enough rain water in a rain barrel or barrels to make a dent in the average 136,000 gallons per year that a metered user like our household uses? Admittedly about 70 per cent of the yard is lawn--around 3000 square feet of it.
I'm painting accent walls in three or four rooms in my Reno, NV, home. The paint chip had the perfect color, but it looks lighter and slightly redder on the wall. I can't return the paint for this first room, but how can I do better when painting the other rooms?
