The mold in you laundry room is there as a result of there being moisture in your laundry room. In order to remedy your mold problem for good, you will need to keep your laundry room dry. I have seen laundry rooms that have dampness issues and often it stems from the dryer not functioning properly. Make sure that the dryer is vented properly. If the dryer vent is clogged with lint, has too many 90 degree turns or travels a long way before terminating outside, this will cause improper venting and can lead to high moisture levels in the laundry room. Since your laundry is in a finished basement make sure that there is not moisture coming through the walls, floor or ceiling. Water mitigation in the walls and floor of a finished basement can be very expensive depending on the amount of water getting in. If everything seems to be okay, I would suggest running a de-humidifier in the laundry room. De-humidifiers come in all shapes and sizes, so pick one that will work for the size of your laundry room. Now it is time to clean off the mold from your ceiling using a strong cleaning solution and monitor the ceiling for any future mold growth. My guess is that if you install a de-humidifier you mold problem will be fixed for good!
