How to Install Countertops Without Breaking the Bank

I’d like to upgrade my laminate countertops without spending too much money–I won’t be importing marble to Honolulu. What are your top picks for mid-range countertops?

I would put granite and tile into my top picks.  If you shop around often times you can find granite for a very competitive price.  You may even find some pre-fabricated granite that will work.  Tile is available in a very wide price range so pick according to budget.   I would recommend a 12” tile with tight joints for less grout clean up.  I would also stay away from light colored grouts.

I would stay away from tile countertops. Even with thin grout lines, tile counters are tough to keep clean.
Go with granite. If you visit a countertop manufacturer, they may have remnants, mis cuts, or inexpensive options for you. Remember, you only pay for it once, but you have to clean it everyday!
