How Much Does a New Porch Foundation Cost?

I am replacing my front porch, and need to build a new foundation. How much should a foundation cost for a 5x9 foot porch? The foundation must be 42'' below grade and needs footings for 2 architectural columns.

Costing out a foundation without drawings and a site visit is very tough. A cost range is the best I can provide for something like this. There are many factors that can affect the cost dramatically on even a small project like this. What is the access like? What is the rebar schedule? How high out of the ground does the foundation need to be? Is it a slab? Will it be necessary to do two separate pours? If it is a slab, how is it going to be finished? Do you plan on using concrete blocks? Can concrete be poured directly from the truck or will a pump be needed? Can the footings be dug with a machine or is hand digging necessary? Is it hard rocky soil or is it easy digging soil? Is an old foundation or piers being removed? Are there buried utilities that need to be identified? Let's just say there are eight parts to this job and let's say that you add $100 to each step due to unforeseen factors, like breaking a water line while digging. That is already an $800 premium on a job that may have been estimated at $1200. Depending on the factors and design issues I outlined previously, I would expect to pay between, $1200-$2500, for your new 5x9 foundation. Good Luck!
