How Much Does Vinyl Flooring Installation Cost?

I am planning on adding vinyl flooring in my home. How much should I expect to pay per square foot?

Hi. There are several types of vinyl flooring with the most popular types for residential use being VCT and vinyl sheet goods. VCT tiles aren't used as much now as they once were, but they can be an economical choice for an area where cosmetic appearance isn't as important as cost and durability. They're available in numerous styles and colors and are normally sold in one foot squares.

Vinyl sheet goods are very popular with homeowners as there are almost countless patterns, styles, and colors to choose from and there are a minimum of seams that can collect dirt. Quite a few selections can be maintained with just a wet mop -- no waxing required.

Both of these types of vinyl flooring can be installed over just about any type of sub-floor, but if you're going over wood, then an underlayment may be required. There is quite a range in pricing for vinyl flooring depending on the style you choose, where you're located, and the difficulty of the installation, but expect VCT to cost about $2 to $4 a square foot for material and labor. There is even more variation in the costs of sheet vinyl flooring, but $6 to $12 a square foot might be a good range for budgeting purposes.
