How much would it cost to install hardwood floors?
I have approximately 1600 sq. feet. Currently there is stained concrete floors. How much would it cost to install hardwood floors?
Nails for Hard Bamboo?
I have installed a hardwood laminate floor in my hallway and purchased a reducer strip made of hard bamboo. Unfortunately the 1 1/2 x 17 wire brads I tried to mount the reducer with folded up like wet paper. What kind of nails should I use to fasten the bamboo to the floor?
Replacing Water Damaged Floors
I had a leak/flood recently, had to get rid of old linoleum and carpet. Now the concrete floor is exposed. Fans dried out the place for 4-6 days. I want to put engineered wood flooring on top of the concrete slab. Due to the moisture from flood, do you recommend just a moisture barrier sealer, or sheetings before putting on the flooring? How about plywood first? The place was soaked overnight. Moisture crept up walls 8 inches. I heard it's good to put plywood planks first, or a vapour barrier to seal concrete first. For the sealer, the flooring guy wants $1000, isn't that excessive?
Newly Installed Floor is Not Level
How do you level a floor that has been taken down to the subflooring and has a 1" discrepancy in unevenness? We are floating a 10'x6' screen and the uneven floor is causing it to not sit straight. We just installed new flooring and supposedy the floor installer had leveled the floor!
Sustainable Flooring for an Orange County Home
I love the look of bamboo flooring. Is that the most "green" wood-type flooring available? Is commercial bamboo farmed, or is it so abundant and fast-growing that that's not necessary?
How do I get rid of “rolls” in my carpet?
After our home was built we discovered the contractor pocketed a lot of the money, didn't pay the contractors so when we had problems they wouldn't come back and fix them. The guys that laid the carpet put down too much and created "rolls" or "little hills" in the carpet. Is there a way to fix this myself?
Removing Tile Flooring in Dining Room
The same ceramic tile that's in our kitchen extends into our dining room, which makes the dining room look too "kitcheny" to me. The kitchen and dining room are two steps down from the living room, which has beautiful hardwood floors. Must the tile flooring be removed to match the dining room flooring to the living room? The dining room is 10 x 12'. What's a rough cost for labor for removing tile and installing hardwood?

What type of nails should I use to hand fasten a bamboo floor?
I am putting in a new bamboo floor using the old timer method of a hammer and nails, then setting each nail with a nail set. I am not using any type of nailer, since it is a very small space. the flooring is 5/8, and I have the rosin paper down already. Do I use finish nails, or common nails? Any response will be greatly appreciated.
