Color Laminate Flooring Design
I am building a game room in our home. I saw a photo of laminate flooring of various colors mixed together that looked really good. Not too dark but not too light either. What colors of laminate can be mixed together to make a unique but impressive flooring job? Just want to hear your design opinion on this.
Moisture on floor and wall. Where is it coming from?
I have what appears to be water (moisture) on the floor and wall in one of the bedrooms. I asked a roofer to check is see if I needed a new roof. I was told that my roof is fine. What else could this be? I see what looks like little water marks on the wall and floor.

Should we fix an old kitchen’s sagging floors?

Why is our basement getting wet?
For years our unfinished basement has been damp but lately we have noticed that our basement walls are actually wet! The other day my wife went into the basement and there was a large pool of water on the flooring. Here in Washington state we get a lot of rain, but we've never had water seeping into our basement before. What could be going on?
What do I do to make a floor not slick?
I refinished a hardwood floor for an elderly lady and she wanted it shiny and slick so it has oil base polyurethane on it. Now she says she doesn't want it that slick, it is too slippery for her at her age. What are your suggestions that I do? What can I do or put on it to make it not so slick?
How can we make an existing room a green nursery?
We are expecting our first baby in a few months and would like to create a green nursery. We live in an old Maine house with plaster walls but, luckily, no lead paint. Would it be better to tear down the walls and start from scratch to make the room green? Or can we work with the existing structure and make other adjustments, such as painting or flooring materials, to make it green for our new baby?
How can we get pet urine stains out of an oak floor?
My wife and I just moved into a 1940s Vermont home with great potential. We knew that there were beautiful oak floors in a four-season sunroom hidden underneath a green shag carpet. But after we moved in and pulled up the entire carpeting we noticed that the flooring had dark spots in several corners. A friend said that this was probably due to urine from pet accidents. We want to refinish the floors, but will these dark flooring stains ever come out?
How to Level Out the Floors After an Addition
We recently added another bedroom to our Toledo home. The problem is with the flooring--the addition is about one inch taller than the rest of the house. What is the best way to even out this discrepancy in height? We are desperate for an answer, as this has become a serious trip hazard!
Is There a Cure for Squeaky Floors?
I love my old Fort Walton Beach home, but the beautiful hardwood flooring squeaks every time someone walks across a threshold. Other than the squeaks, the flooring is very sturdy and in excellent condition. Is there a cure for the squeaky flooring, or do I have to live with it?
