How Can I Fill the Holes Left By Old Hardware Removed From my Kitchen Cabinets?

Answered by Brendan ~ January 17th, 2010 | 1 Comment » | Respond to this question

I’d like to replace existing handles on the kitchen cabinets in my Waco, TX, home with door pulls. The pull would use only one of the existing holes. I don’t want the plug to be obvious. Is this a do-it-yourself fix or do I need an expert?

This can be a tricky process but I would place it in the DIY category. If they are stain grade cabinets, you may need to do some colored putty mixing and experimentation to get a color match that will blend perfectly with the wood.

If they are painted you can use a paintable wood putty to fill the hole and get a paint store to do a color match on the cabinets to touch up the puttied hole.
