Decorative Window for Bathroom Remodeling

Answered by Brendan ~ December 6, 2010 ~ No Comments

I'd like to do a bathroom remodel to let in more light. I'd remove the small, high window and waterproof wall it's in and use multi-colored glass blocks from tub deck height up to 7' high. Will this let in too much cold during a Grand Junction winter for comfort while bathing?

Glass blocks will be cold in the winter but not so cold that you will not be able to enjoy a shower or bath. I would recommend that you do not make the opening any wider than the original window unless you add a wider window header. Glass block is not generally rated for load bearing applications. It sounds like a cool project, have fun with it!
