Can White Euro-style Kitchen Cabinets be Refinished?

Answered by Brendan ~ January 11, 2010 ~ 1 Comments » | Respond to this question

The Fort Collins, CO, home I purchased has Euro-style kitchen cabinets with a horizontal oak strip across the kitchen cabinet doors. I dislike the white, preferring wood or color. I can't afford to replace the cabinets. What are my options?

White Euro-style Kitchen Cabinets I would need a little more info to give you your exact options, but I think I can get you going in the right direction. You have the option of re-facing your existing cabinets. This is an option that will be fast to execute and allow you to change your doors/drawers to any style/color you want. If your cabinets are solid wood, they could be stripped of their old finish and repainted or re-stained.

Some painted cabinets are made from medium density fiberboard (MDF) or other materials that are virtually impossible be stained. You also have the option of simply repainting the cabinets to a color you like better. Each one of the options has different costs associated with it, depending on your budget you may want to do this job yourself or hire someone to do it for you.
