I want to replace the gas stove in our kitchen, but the delivery company will not install the new appliance for me. I am curious to know how easy it is to remove and install a gas stove? Do I need to hire someone for this job or should I do it myself? Thanks!

Christina, although installing a new gas stove can be a very straight forward project, an incorrectly installed gas appliance can be dangerous. For your peace of mind, you should insist that the appliance store where you bought the new unit complete the installation for you, or at the very least they should be able to offer you the name of a local installer who can be hired at a reasonable cost. Another benefit of using an experienced appliance installer is that they can inspect the fittings and connections on your home's gas line for corrosion and other signs of wear and tear, as well as ensure that all your gas service equipment is up to code.
I think it is money well spent to have your kitchen appliances professionally installed. Not only are most appliances heavy and awkward to transport, but achieving the perfect fit in your cabinetry can be tricky. If you do not want to pay extra for professional installation, then you should buy your new appliance at a dealer that offers the service for free.
