Can a homeowner aquire permits for drywall and other light renovation?

Can a homeowner acquire permits for drywall, light carpentry, and painting renovations to a house? Nearly all drywall has to be replaced and some carpentry work as well as full painting needed for renovations in the state of Kentucky.

I am not aware of any building department that will not allow homeowners to pull permits and do the work themselves. You should also be able to pull the permits and sub contract all the work to other people if you want. If it is your house, you can get permits for anything you want to do on the house; however, you are responsible that all the work done conforms to your local building codes. Good Luck!
