My husband & I want to remove a massive 14" high by 15" deep soffit in our kitchen. We have a one story house with an attic. Our HVAC is metal not aluminum and part of it is housed in that soffit with insulation over it. Can we move the HVAC ourselves safely or do we need to hire someone? What can we expect to pay?
I have an exterior door (vinyl on metal) with side light (vinyl on metal) that needs refinishing. Can you recommend the kind of gel stripper that would remove the old gel stain without damaging the vinyl, which I have already done on the side light (thought it was fiberglass)?

I have a porch roof attached to the rear of my home - size is approximately 6'X24'. One side is attached to the exterior wall of the home and the other side is supported by five 6 x 6 treated posts. Can I create my own beam by nailing a treated 2x10 on either side of the posts to carry the load and then remove the three middle posts? What is the maximum span with the method I am suggesting?
Installing a dryer vent in my garage.
My garage is approx. 2 car length. What is code to vent it?
What is the best way to level an existing concrete floor in my lower level garage in order to install a hardwood floor and turn the area into an office? The existing garage is approx 340 square feet.
I have granite tile countertops with wood trim…...the wood trim is looking worn and I am wanting to refurbish it. Can you tell me how to do this?
I want to replace a small wood deck (18'-10') and build the new deck out of composite wood decking. What brand do you recommend? Do you have any tips for a DIY installer?
My sunroom's old wood windows are weathered and in bad shape. I would replace the windows, but I live in a historic district and the cost would be astronomical. I would like to have someone clean the window sashes and sand down the window frames, then refinish all the wood with some sort of exterior sealer. What kind of contractor does this type of work? There are 7 windows total, what might project cost me?
I would like to have a new exterior door installed in my bedroom. Because my house is sided with brick, do you think it would be best to install the new door in one of the existing window openings? How many hours would it take a contractor to do this sort of job? Thanks!
It takes several minutes for the hot water in my house to reach the kitchen faucet (which is the furthest away from the hot water heater). How can I improve this situation? Should I add a second tank or a circulation loop? Thanks in advance.
